- [Field Trip] DTM to KSPO, "Enjoy Sports, We Support"
- "Enjoy Sports, We Support." The slogan of the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation(KSPO) was engraved brightly inside of 5th batch students' hearts. KSPO invited DTM for the 3 memorable events; Seoul Olympic Museum tour, National Fitness Award 국민체력100 test, and the international forum 'The Value of the Olympics and Paralympics. Movement from 1988 Seoul to 2018 PyeongChang.'. Early morning, DTM 5th batch students arrived at the KSPO. Along with the warm welcome of KSPO, the 4th batch student Aldo Tong, currently working as an intern in KSPO, greeted the 5th batch. Aldo enthusiastically guided throughout the museum and inspired with the spirit of the Olympism. It was a memorable moment to experience the legacy of the Olympics and DTM. National Fitness Award 국민체력100 is a nationwide project of KSPO to enhance public health of Korea. 4 volunteers participated the test and received their results. The practical experience helped students to relate sports, public health, and the responsibility of DTM as a 'world sports leader'. The last session was the international forum with the topic of 'The Value of the Olympics and Paralympics. Movement from 1988 Seoul to 2018 PyeongChang.'. Wishing a successful hosting of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, DTM 5th batch students shared their notions. The forum's topics consisted Olympic Legacy and Peace, Global Co-operation, Social Inclusion, and the Economy. Fruitful conference influenced substantially to DTM. "Enjoy Sports, We Support" DTM dreams together with KSPO. DTM appreciates KSPO for its passionate support.

- [Field Trip] Professional Volleyball Game (Woori Card Wibee vs KEPCO Vixtorm)
- In addition to the study in the classroom, the 5th batch students and staffs gathered to visit Jangchung Arena to watch the volleyball match Seoul Woori Card Wibee vs Suwon KEPCO Vixtorm. The students were granted the privilege of meeting and interacting with the Seoul Woori Card Wibee players and associated staff members. By participating the events for the fans and analyzing the marketing factors of the teams, students could apply classroom learnings to real-world problems and authentic situations. - [Field Trip] PyeongChang 2018
- Dream Together Master Program 5th batch students went on a field trip to PyeongChang 2018. It was a month before the opening of the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018. The field trip included visits to the PyeongChang 2018 Promotional Booth and the ICT Experience Center. They provided detailed introduction of the upcoming mega sports event, in terms of the Games itself, venues, and the technologies. It was a memorable moment, recalling the meaning and the legacy of the Olympics. Students also experienced cooking and tasting the traditional food of Gangwon Province. Among 24 students, 14 skiied and 10 snowboarded in YongPyong Ski Resort. It was a priceless trip with diverse opportunities to enjoy PyeongChang 2018. - [Field Trip] Professional Basketball Game (Seoul SK vs Incheon Electroland)
- Dream Together Master Program 5th batch students went on a sports field trip to the basketball match Seoul SK vs Incheon Electroland. Wearing SNUTDTM basketball uniform, students cheered for the match with all their heart. By participating the events for the fans and analyzing the marketing factors of the teams, students could both enjoy and learn from the field trip. They also applied their learning from the lectures. 5th batch students not only watched the professional basketball game, but also experienced the professional basketball industry as a whole of Korea. - [Special Lecture] Dae Hee Kwak, Professor of University of Michigan
- On December 15th, DTM invited a special guest Dae Hee Kwak, professor of University of Michigan. Dae Hee Kwak shared his invaluable experience and knowledge under the topic of “Greater Social Impact Through Strategic Partnership”. He introduced sports as a platform to expand socially responsible initiatives. By analyzing the previous cases of sponsorship, the professor illustrated how sports can deliver positive values to the society by partnership. He proposed 5 strategies to make partnership perform successfully. Clear objectives, transparency of the process, proper communication strategies, public participation, and multiple identities were mentioned as 5 factors to ensure positive impact of sports and the sports partnership. Dae Hee Kwak is a professor of Sport Management at University of Michigan and is also a Director of Center for Sport Marketing Research. Dr. Kwak's research focuses on sport consumer behavior in various sport-related consumption contexts. His long-term research goal is to identify how sport consumer behavior is similar or dissimilar with other types of consumer behavior. His current work focuses on how emotion and experiential judgments influence various decisions to consume sport-related products and services. - This course is designed to enhance the knowledge on how to identify research problems and questions in sports management data including market analysis, and on how to systemically collect and analyze the data. Also, it provides an opportunity that students can learn the concepts and essential elements of scientific research. - The central goal of this module is to provide the student with both a theoretical and an applied understanding of the values and limits to sponsorship. A second focus for the module is to understand the relationship between sponsorship and social responsibility. Views from both the sponsor and sponsee will be considered. The module on the one hand views sponsorship as a funding source for sport and on the other as a marketing platform for sponsors. - [Special Lecture] Olivier Niggli, Director General of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)
- On November 17th, DTM invited a special guest Olivier Niggli, Director General of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Olivier Niggli shared his invaluable experience and knowledge under the topic of “Building an anti-doping agency that is fit for the future”. He introduced the vision, mission, and values of World Anti-Doping Agency and emphasized that they have tried to make a world where all athletes can compete in a doping-free sporting environment and led a collaborate worldwide movement for doping-free sport. He also introduced the 7 different blocks of the organization which were compliance, education, NADO/RADO relations, science/medical, investigations/intelligence, athlete relations, and information and data management. Lastly, he emphasized that WADA will develop and implement a strong compliance program with sanctions for signatories, increase and enhance research-led anti-doping education, and work with NADOs/RADOs/IFs to enhance anti-doping capacity. According to WADA, Effective 1 July 2016, Olivier Niggli assumed the role as WADA’s Director General. He was previously Chief Operating Officer (COO) and General Counsel of WADA. From 2011 to 2014, Olivier was a partner with the law firm Carrard & Associés in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he was active in sport, arbitration and commercial law. He possesses extensive experience in the fight against doping, including his time as WADA’s Legal Director and Chief Financial Officer from 2001-2011. Olivier Niggli holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the London School of Economics (LSE) and an MBA from McGill University, and is fluent in both English and French. With his background and experience, he brings expertise to WADA in the legal, financial and governance areas.
