- The central goal of this module is to develop a critical understanding of sport development. Sport development is considered here to have two main dimensions: ‘sport for development and peace’ (SDP), which uses sport to pursue wider social benefits; and ‘development of sport’, which focuses on building up sport in itself, such as through increasing public participation in sport, developing new sport facilities, and improving sport performances. - The main purpose of this class is to provide both a theoretical and practical understanding of sport and human development. - The aim of the module is to develop a critical understanding of the policy process in relation to sport, and it provides an understanding of the concept of policy and the nature of interests and power in the policy process. The module will also examine the significance of international policy actors for domestic/national policy processes and review a range of macro-level and meso-level theories of the policy process in order to equip students with a conceptual language and knowledge of a range of analytical frameworks to enable them to conduct analysis of sport policy in both developing and developed countries. - [Field Trip] Professional Baseball Game (LG Twins vs KIA Tigers)
- The number of spectators is growing every year, and Korean baseball is now the most popular sport as millions of spectators come to the stadium. Dream Together Master 5th batch students went on a field trip to Jamsil Stadium, a home of LG Twins, to watch a Korean professional baseball game (LG Twins vs KIA Tigers). This was a great chance not only to experience cheering culture, facility administration, and sports marketing strategies, but also to apply what students have learned in the class to sport field. By participating the events for the fans and analyzing the marketing factors of the teams, students could apply classroom learning to the real-world problems and situations. - To give better understanding about PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games and impact and ongoing task of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, LEE Hee-beom, President of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter speaks before the DTM 5 batch students in a lecture at the Seoul National University on May 16, 2018. Mr. LEE Hee-beom is a President of The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Lee began his career as a Government official in 1972 and served as Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy from 2003 to 2006. He then held executive positions at institutions and companies including the Korea International Trade Association, the Korea Employers Federation, STX Energy and STX Heavy Industries. He is currently an advisor of the LG International Corporation. Last February, he was given the Olympic Order award after his efforts in coordinating the 2018 Winter Olympics in PeongChang. - The module aims to provide the student with both a theoretical and an applied understanding of how the sport industry and media work together. The module is specifically designed to develop an appreciation of the sport media and communication process as it relates to the sport organizations, sponsors, advertisers, the customers, fans, the public, and related policy makers. The course allows students the opportunity to gain insight into the global perspective of the sport media, and the approach will be from the perspective of media industry and public policy.
