  • [Forum] Dream Together Seoul Forum 2017
  • ‘Dream Together Seoul Forum 2017’ focused on “Olympic Legacy and Sustainability” to promote upcoming 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games and to facilitate developing the Olympic legacy in general. Olympic legacy has been misunderstood, under-evaluated, and less-developed. Therefore, this year’s forum aimed to retrospect past Olympics which have left successful legacy including 1988 Seoul, 2010 Vancouver, and 2012 London Olympics and to figure out the direction for the legacy of the future Olympic host cites including 2018 PyeongChang and 2020 Tokyo.   • This course aims to define the field and sports industry in modern society and classifies domains of sport industry and their differenitiation. Also, the course explains the unique features of sport governing bodies through three different themes such as apex of an inter-organizational network, apical functions of sport governing bodies, and a monopoly.   • [Special Lecture] Justin Y. Jeon, Member of Department of Sports Promotion, Korea Paralympic Committee
  • On November 3rd, DTM invited a special guest Justin Y. Jeon, Member of Department of Sports Promotion, Korea Paralympic Committee and Professor & Head of Department of Sport Industry Studies at Yonsei University. Justin Y. Jeon shared his invaluable experience and knowledge under the topic of "Dream together with people with disabilities for better world". He was a Development Committee Member of International Paralympic Committee and Governing Board Member of Asian Paralympic Committee from 2010 to 2014. He also served as a Chairman of Asian Paralympic Committee East Asian Region from 2010 to 2014. Justin has been involved with the Paralympic Games since 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games as a Secretary General of the Whang Youn Dai Achievement Award, and participating in a total of 8 Paralympic Games. He has been involved with preparing bid processes for 2014 and 2018 Pyeong Chang Winter Paralympic Games. He has been involved with Asian Para Games, and Paralympic Games as a member of the Development Committee. Justin has various research experiences on exercise and health from molecular biology, animal science, physiology, endocrinology, clinical and epidemiology studies in three different countries including South Korea, Canada and United States.   Speaker: Justin Y.   • The aim of this module is for the student to obtain an understanding of the importance of sport sponsorship and social responsibility governance for sport organisations, both at the strategic and managerial level and to recognize the differences between models of sport and regulation. The module incorporates an analysis of governance in particular sporting bodies and a closer look at the policy context of sport governance in Europe and the United States.   • [Field Trip] Sports Monster
  • Dream Together Master Program 5th batch students went on a sports field trip to Sports Monster in Hanam city. The facility is a sports complex which allows people to experience various sports in 4 zones. Each part has its own theme: Basic, Exciting, Adventure, Digital. In the Basic zone, students could play classic sports like bastketball, baseball, soccer, etc. Exciting zone includes gunning, trampolin, dart game, etc, and Adventure zone free fall, climbing, ect. The most eye-catching area was Digital zone where students could experience new sports with electronic gear. Through the trip, students had time to experience sportainment which is arising thesedays as a new realm of sports and think about the method to apply to their own countries.   • This course reflects the reality of the event through planning and operating an event which requires active participation of the Organizing Committee and external partners, many of the students will not have met or worked with before. The course provides opportunities for the students to design sport events.   • [Special Lecture] Theresa Rah, Co-CEO of Oratio
  • We invited a special guest Ms. Theresa Rah, Co-CEO of Oratio and Communications Director of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games Bid Committee. Ms. Theresa Rah shared her invaluable experience and knowledge under the theme of "Effective Communications for Winning Bids". Date : October 23, 2017 (Monday), 14:00-15:30 Location : Seoul National University, Bldg 12 (College of Education) Room 401 Speaker : Ms. Theresa Rah Topic : Effective Communications for Winning Bids Language: English Theresa Rah is a communications expert and lecturer in Korea. She spent most of her childhood living abroad in different countries following her diplomat father before settling down in Seoul. After graduating Ewha Womans University, Theresa started her career at Arirang TV as a news anchor and gained experience as presenter on various TV shows and international conferences. She also served as Communications Director for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games Bidding Committee. She is currently co-CEO of Oratio, a communications consulting firm that specializes in creating communications strategies, writing presentations and speaker training.

  • [Class] Module 5. Hosting & Legacy Strategy for Sport Events
  • This module aims to help students to understand how to host sport events and to manage its legacy. This module attracted DTM students who had interest in this topic and who currently work for related organizations. The lecturer, prof. Seong-Hee Park gave practical examples from many countries in various conditions and cultures. On the last day of the week, they had team presentations of the hosting of sports events, simulating they were the bidding team and delegations from their countries.   • [Special Lecture] Yoon Soo Yoon, Chairman & CEO, FILA Global
  • On October 13th, DTM had a special lecture with a very special guest from FILA Global, Chairman & CEO Yoon Soo Yoon. He gave a presentation with the tile of “Entrepreneurship”. During the lecture, he emphasized that challenging spirit and various experiences are needed for success. Yoon Soo Yoon has been successfully operating two global sporting goods company, FILA Global and Acushnet Holdings Corp. He started his career with FILA, which was founded in 1911 in Italy, and he has acquired the FILA Global in 2007. He succeeded in acquiring the American golf products company ‘Acushnet’. He is considered to be one of the most important entrepreneurs, and his successful story continues to inspire people around the world. He was awarded Honorary Citizenship of FILA's Home City of Biella, Italy, and his business management case was selected by Harvard Business School as a case study example.
