- Meeting with the Embassy of Ecuador in Korea
- On August 1st, representatives of the Embassy of Ecuador in Korea including Mr. Oscar Herrera Gilbert (Ambassador) and Diana Vizcaíno (Ambassador’s Assistant) visited the Director of Dream Together Master’s office and had a productive meeting with Director Joon-ho Kang and Martin Avila Escobar and Nicolas Teran Fierro (Current DTM students). The Embassy of Ecuador in Korea has promoted the Dream Together Master for past several years, and Mr. Herrera had a huge interest in the Program as well. Representatives of the Embassy of Ecuador in Korea and Director Joon-ho Kang shared each organization’s mission and vision and built a cooperative partnership to promote global sport development through an effective network and interchange of ideas. - [Special Lecture] Dr. Michael Sagas
- On July 18th, DTM had a special lecture with a very special guest from the University of Florida, Professor and Chair Dr. Michael Sagas. He gave a presentation with the tile of "Athlete Development". During the lecture, he emphasized that proper and effective interventions on athletes are necessary to leverage opportunities, overcome barriers, and cope with challenges. Also, he stressed that understanding Athlete Development Literacy model that the knowledge, awareness, skills, and confidence necessary to make sound decisions on how to utilize and capitalize on available resources to develop as an athlete is important for athletes to experience overall well-being inside and outside of the athletic arena, and athletes should perceive it as an intervention tool which helps to improve their sports performance and success in lives away from and after sports. - The aim of the module is to develop a critical understanding of the policy process in relation to sport, and it provides an understanding of the concept of policy and the nature of interests and power in the policy process. The module will also examine the significance of international policy actors for domestic/national policy processes and review a range of macro-level and meso-level theories of the policy process in order to equip students with a conceptual language and knowledge of a range of analytical frameworks to enable them to conduct analysis of sport policy in both developing and developed countries. - Interview with the General Secretary of the new Cambodian Boxing Federation Mr. Sophoan Buy Interview with the General Secretary of the new Cambodian Boxing Federation Mr. Sophoan Buy| ASBCNEWS Mr. Sophoan Buy is the General Secretary of the newly formed Cambodian Boxing Federation who arrived with his President Prof. Dr. Chhoeung Yav Yen to the venue of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships to Bangkok to visit the competition and make negotiations with ASBC and Thailand Boxing Association. Mr. Buy shared with us his thoughts about the event, the difficulties and strategic plans in Cambodia. The country will be competing in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur in August and finally their Federation in the Olympic boxing separated from their traditional Khmer boxing. “We would like to say great thanks to the Thailand Boxing Association to invite us to the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships to Bangkok where we can see the development of Asia’s boxing life and the current level of the athletes. We have got good relationship with the Asian Boxing Confederation and we are cooperating with several NFs already. We are building up our National Federation which is a new one and I joined to the boxing world only a few months ago therefore we are open to cooperate with everyone in our region and continent. We have separated the Olympic boxing from our traditional Khmer boxing therefore we are a new Federation which was a historical step in my country. The Cambodian Boxing Federation launched its official Facebook page in the recent weeks to be more transparency in the future. Currently 10 clubs are joined to our Cambodian Boxing Federation and hoping to be raised this number in the near months. Currently we have got one national event in every a year, the National Championships for our best men and women athletes. We were able to involve boxing to the official program of the Cambodian National Games which was at the very first time in November 2016. We have got currently elite and youth national team which we formed in the recent months and these athletes are really young. We have got a Cuban coach but we need more foreign coaches in the future to develop our Cambodians. Our elite team will be preparing in a training camp in Thailand from July 15 before the Southeast Asian Games. We can send 5 male boxers to Southeast Asian Games to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after the training camp. We are working hard to join also to the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City this November. In long term we have been preparing to the 2023 edition of the Southeast Asian Games which will be held in our country in Cambodia at the very first time. “said Mr. Sophoan Buy during his stay in Bangkok. - [2017 Team Project] 2017 WTF World Taekwondo Championship Muju
- Dream Together Master 4th batch students participated the 2017 WTF World Taekwondo Championships in Muju as a volunteer from June 22 - July 1, 2017 as a part of Team Project. The students make a group to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the international games operations and provide constructive feedback on how improvements can be made. Their presentation will be held on September 1st, 2017 in Seoul National University. - [Special Lecture] Prof. Minsoo Kang
- A special Lecture was held on June 16th, 2017 at Seoul National University Building 71-1 Room 212. Professor, Minsoo Kang who is a Dean of Department of Health, Exercise Science, and Recreation in University of Mississippi gave a lecture on the “Advantages of Statistics in Sports”. He presented about the purpose of statistics in sports which are placement, diagnosis, prediction, achievement, and program evaluation and his recent project regarding the application of statistics in sports: using a mathematical model: Benford’s Law. He started the lecture by explaining the definition of key terms in statistics such as measurement, evaluation, and statistics to help students better understand his lecture.During the lecture, He defined that statistics is a tool for evaluation, which include collecting, analyzing, and interpreting of measurement data and emphasized that statistics play an important role in modern sports as advancement of technology. In addition, he mentioned that it can help coaches and players instantly make more informed decisions that could decide wins and losses. Through the meaningful lecture, Dream Together Master students could have knowledge of statistics and ability to look at match fixing in sports from statistical perspective.
