The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has handed Aminath Nashida from the Maldives the opportunity to study at Seoul National University.
She will form part of the Dream Together study programme in the South Korean capital.
This aims to promote global development by training people to lead sport in underdeveloped countries.
World-class education is provided for future sporting leaders, with global networking a key part of proceedings.
It is hoped that sport will be improved in countries like the Maldives at both national and international level.
Nashida was selected after a competitive process carried out by ANOC and the university.
Her prize is a fully-funded scholarship and she departed for Seoul earlier this month.
She will study there for two years and aim to achieve a masters qualification at the end.
