The theme of the event, “Olympic Legacy and Sustainability: From the past to the future”, will explore positive examples of Olympic legacy in the past and discuss how similar principles can be utilized in South Korea for next February’s Winter Olympics.
The Dream Together Forum is supported by Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation to promote global sport development. The forum began in 2013 and is a platform where IOC members, NOC leaders and scholars speak about critical issues on the sports agenda. The 2017 edition will seek to promote the PyeongChang 2018 Games and facilitate the development of the Olympic legacy. Organizers of the forum argue that Olympic legacy is often misunderstood and the forum will analyze examples of successful legacies such as London 2012 and Vancouver 2010. IOC Executive Board member Ser Miang, Vancouver 2010 chairman John Furlong, PyeongChang 2018 vice president Johoo Kim, Tokyo 2020 public relations secretary Hiromi Kawamura and IOC head of legacy Tania Braga are some of the featured speakers of this year’s forum. The InterContinental Seoul COEX Hotel will host the event that takes place on Nov. 24. It is organized by the Seoul National University. Register for the event by Nov. 21.
