SEOUL NATIONAL UNIVERSITY – Twenty five 5th batch students, a class representing 23 different nationalities, enjoyed and celebrated the completion of DTM curriculum at SNU with the DTM Family on Monday evening of December 17th, 2018.
The event was marked by celebration, awards and speeches, including DTM Director, Prof. Joon-ho Kang, SNU Physical Education Department Chair, Prof. Sun Yong Kwon, and Team Manager of KSPO, Mr. Dongbae Kim.
“You are qualified to be become a leader of your country as well as a frontier of the international sport community. Congratulations! It was my honor and pleasure to be with you. I love you all and I will miss you,” said Prof. Joon-ho Kang – DTM Director.
Gobinath Sivarajah, a Provisional National Course Director of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, Mosejoa Belina Ntsane, a Sport Officer of the Ministry of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation of Lesotho, and Mauricio Hernandez, a Sport Instructor of the SENA (National Service for Vocational Education) of Colombia were honored as the 2018 Best Thesis Award.
Touching farewell speech was delivered by the student representative of the class of 2019, Mr. Nicholas Chipeta from Zambia. Nicholas brought all the great memories throughout the 17-month DTM journey in his speech.
“Being in the DTM program has enriched and broadened our perception of the world by living with peers with ideas, cultures and backgrounds quite different from our own. Cultural or lifestyle differences were never a barrier in our friendship. We learnt to support each other all the time,” said Chipeta.
The class of 2019 started their journey here in Seoul from August in 2017, with 30 modules coursework lectures, special lectures, group projects, exams, and sport field trips to different professional sport clubs/stadiums and sport organizations. For the last 5 months, the students focused on their thesis. The graduation ceremony represented all the hard work, effort and dedication of students.
